Institutional Recognition — City of Palermo, 2023
In 2023, the City of Palermo hosted Alessandro Butera's anthological exhibition "Viaggio alla ricerca della bellezza" at the former church of San Mattia ai Crociferi, in the heart of the Kalsa district, under the patronage of the Mayor's Ceremonial Office. The exhibition traced the evolution of the artist's research — from gestural painting to Spatialism, through to extroflessed artworks and illuminated bas-reliefs — in a visual path conceived as a journey through form, colour, and light.
The inauguration was attended by Giampiero Cannella, then Councillor for Culture and Deputy Mayor of Palermo, today Undersecretary for Culture of the Italian Government, who expressed appreciation for the artist's Spatialist research and artistic evolution.
On the occasion of the exhibition, Balarm dedicated a profile to the artist, written by Gianluca Tantillo.
